Marine Air Conditioning

Air conditioning systems are no longer just found in cars or offices. They are increasingly being used in boats and ships, whether on commercial vessels or private yachts. With the Climma® brand from Veco®, you have one of the most complete program in this area on the marine market.

Depending on the onboard conditions, the systems can be configured centrally or individually for each cabin. Accordingly, we understand that these products sometimes require detailed consultation. We attempt to highlight the differences between the individual systems here, but we are of course always available to answer questions and provide advice.

The systems are distinguished as follows:

FCU - Compact selfcontained units

FCU = Fan Coil Unit

In these systems, the actual climate unit (the so-called "Chiller") and the fan for the cooled or heated air (the so-called Fancoil) are integrated in a compact unit (Climma® Compact). However, with certain systems, there is also the option to install the fancoil(s) separately from the chiller (Climma® Split). Generally, these systems are only intended for one cabin or a small area, such as a cabin and a wet room.

FCU - centralized fancoil and chiller systems

FCU = Fan Coil Unit

Unlike compact systems, the chiller is planned centrally for all fancoils. This must, of course, be able to provide the power of the sum of all fancoils of the individual cabins/areas accordingly. For example, the chiller is installed in the machine room and supplies the individual fancoils with the chilled/heated fresh water from there.

AHU - centralized fresh air systems

AHU = Air Handling Unit

Even with these systems, there is a centralized unit. In this case, however, no fresh water is distributed from the "central" location, but rather the already cooled/heated air. This, of course, requires the corresponding space. The major advantage of these systems is that they allow for air exchange and do not just circulate the existing air in the room.
